Members’ Weekend

One benefit of membership in the James Smithson Society is attending the Annual Members’ Weekend. Each year, members gather from around the country to celebrate the Smithsonian programs made possible in part by their generous annual contributions.

2012 Members’ Weekend

We are excited to announce that the next James Smithson Society and Smithsonian Legacy Society Members' Weekend will be held April 19 - 21, 2012. The Saturday evening black-tie celebration dinner will be held at the Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard of the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture. Members will also have an opportunity to attend the 30th annual Smithsonian Craft Show, held April 19 - 22 at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC

2011 Members’ Weekend

The annual black-tie celebration dinner was held at the National Air and Space Museum. Members were able to experience many of the Smithsonian museums and research centers through receptions, tours, and presentations by Smithsonian leaders and museums directors.

2010 Members' Weekend

A few highlights of the 2010 Weekend include a welcome reception at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, hosted by the museum’s director Richard Koshalek; a keynote address by Secretary G. Wayne Clough; in-depth tours led by Institution curators, scientists, and scholars; and a reception and dinner at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia.
